Our own Ed Montague is the subject of an in-depth interview in the Trial Lawyers Association of BC‘s (TLABC) spring issue of The Verdict. Earlier this year, Ed was named the 2014 Champion of Justice as selected by the Public Affairs Committee (PAC) of TLABC, and awarded the prestigious Larry Kancs Legacy Award. This special recognition was inaugurated in 2012 and is presented every two years to recognize a member’s ongoing, outstanding contributions to the association.
Karla is a civil litigator specializing in commercial litigation. She has represented individual and corporate clients in cases involving contractual disputes, real estate transactions, lease disputes, shareholder’s disputes, and collections matters. This work has included helping clients reverse transactions affected by fraud, misrepresentations and undue influence. She also has experience resolving inter-generational family disputes and personal injury claims. Karla received her law degree from the University of British Columbia in 2007, articled at a national law firm in Vancouver and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2008. A Richmond native, she is currently a member of the Richmond women’s field hockey team.
A recent judgment handed down in an ICBC personal injury case argued before the supreme court by Kathy Ducey, resulted in an award of $360,000 in damages for her client. The award represents a substantial increase from ICBC’s best settlement offer to her client who suffered from soft tissue injuries including ongoing pain in the right hip.
