FACL BC Board members, including Karla Mukai and keynote speaker, Winston Sayson Q.C.

Campbell Froh May & Rice LLP recently sponsored the Federation for Asian Canadian Lawyers’ (FACL) Gala, which was held on November 18, 2014 at the Sutton Place Hotel in Vancouver and attended by approximately 200 people. Firm members in attendance were Eric Schroter, Ambrose Ng, Todd Ferguson, Brandon Hastings, and Karla Mukai, who is both a member of FACL BC board of directors, and one of CFMR’s newest lawyers.

Winston Sayson, Q.C , Crown Counsel with BC Ministry of Justice, spoke passionately about his experience as an Asian Canadian lawyer. He described his path from his family’s immigration to Canada from the Philippines in 1981, to law school, the prosecutor’s office, and his appointment as Queen’s Counsel in 2010.

The exceptional evening was emceed by FACL President, Serene S. Y. Chow, and UBC Law Career Services’ Jenn Lau. FACL BC was formed in 2007 to promote equity, justice, and opportunity for Asian Canadian legal professionals and the community. Campbell Froh May & Rice LLP was pleased to participate in and support FACL BC in their third annual gala.
